Gohar Shah, who bought Sialkot Stallions and rebranded them as Multan Sultans, has claimed that he has many friends in the English national team, and that he would be willing to play in the PSL for 1/10th of what he earns in the IPL from the next season of the league.
The Pakistan Super League has undergone massive changes in this edition of the competition. The former six-team franchise tournament will now have a total of eight teams in the competition with the entry of new teams.
Sialkot Stallions was one of the two new franchises, but after the former Multan Sultans side was put up for sale owner Gohar Shah rebranded it as Multan Sultans and the new owners renamed it Rawalpindi Pindies. Before the start of the tournament, the new franchise owner has made a big claim.
Multan Sultans owner Gohar Shah has issued a big warning to IPL teams.
The PSL season begins on March 26, two days before the start of the IPL 2026 season. Multan Sultans’ new owner Gauhar Shah, who spent big money to bring Steven Smith to his side, has made a bold claim.
He claimed that he is friends with many people on the English national team, and that if he asked them, they would be willing to play him in any other major franchise tournament at even 1/10th of his price. He also claimed that he could not come this time, as it was the first season.
Gauhar Shah claimed, “I have many good friends in the England national cricket team. This time, the teams were already formed, so they could not come on board, but if I approach them in the future, they will also play at 1/10th the price.”
“If I claim selfishly, they will also leave IPL to play in PSL for us,” he said, calling it the most audacious claim and only time will tell what will happen in IPL 2027.

PSL team owner claims to attract big companies to PSL on a large scale
The Multan Sultans owner claims that this was not only a reflection of his self-confidence and ambitions, but also an open challenge to other franchises within the PSL to bring big guns into their team, as he claims that around 2-3 big guns only want to play for him.
“Now I have seven foreign players, so I am not even considering any rotation plan. However, some franchises are not considering taking players because they know there are 2-3 big guns who are already waiting to play for my franchise,” Shah said.
Although these claims seemed a bit silly, it was clear that he wanted to increase his influence. In his concluding statement he said, “From next season onwards, you will see some more names along with Steve Smith, big players whom no other franchise in the world can afford to play at the same time.”
