Four wins in four matches. Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their winning streak by defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Jaipur. With two more points, they now have 14 points and have strengthened their claim for a place in the play-offs.
With Sai Sudarshan (55) and Shubman Gill (84) as the openers, GT got a smooth and solid start in the first innings. The partnership of 118 runs for the first wicket gave them a solid base to score a huge score.

GT got an emphatic win over RR
Against GT’s 229, RR never looked in a position to compete with Gujarat’s bowling unit. Without their regular captain Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals’ batting unit could not bear the wrath of the GT bowlers.
The fast bowling duo of Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada did not allow Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi to put a dent in their plans. Inside the powerplay, Rajasthan lost their important wickets of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Yashvi Jaiswal (acting captain for today’s match) and Simron Hetmyer.
Siraj and Rabada were a bit expensive tonight, but they did their job, which was to take some important wickets. To chase the huge target of 230 runs, Royals needed a long partnership in the middle, which they could not do. Afghanistan’s experienced spinner Rashid Khan showed his class in the middle phase of the second innings.

In his 4 over spell, he took the wickets of Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Donovan Ferreira and Shubham Dubey at an economy rate of only 8.25. If Shubman Gill was the star performer in the first innings of the match, then in the second innings it was Rashid Khan who never allowed the opposing batsmen to take a long flight.
Following in the footsteps of Rashid Khan, Titans fast bowler Jason Holder did the rest with the ball and took three wickets for 12 runs in just 2.3 overs.
Record breaking victory of Gujarat Titans
Batting first, GT scored 229 runs against home team RR in Jaipur. In reply, RR could only manage 152 runs and allowed Shubman Gill’s team to win the match by a huge margin of 77 runs. According to statistics, GT has recorded its biggest margin in terms of runs. In 2023, they had a 62-run win against Mumbai Indians, their biggest win by runs before tonight’s game.

I think we were just thinking about bowling – Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal said, “I think we were just thinking about bowling in good areas and they were batting very well. So we were just thinking about how we can bowl boundaries or hit big shots. So I think it was quite good from them. No, this is cricket (talk about Archer being off the radar today). We all know there are some days where you are, there are some days when you are like that. Can’t bowl how you want to.”
“But he is doing very well for us. So I think he will come back very strongly. No, I didn’t really think that much (was it a tough decision to take Berger out). I had a simple plan, who is my bowler and who can give me some good overs in the powerplay.”
“So nothing special from me. Nothing much (what went wrong tonight?). I think we’ll look at what we can do better and just focus on the next game, what we can do and what we can learn from this game.
