Controversy related to Salman Aga and Bangladesh

In an effort to get their campaign back on track, all-rounder Salman Ali Aga played a promising innings during the middle overs, helping Pakistan score some runs with consistency after a promising start provided by young, dynamic opener Maaz Shadakat.

Bangladesh captain Mehdi Hasan Miraj left no stone unturned to break the partnership of Salman and Mohammad Rizwan. After this he finally got his chance to bowl in the 39th over of the game, but in the form of a run-out opportunity.

Agha, who was looking strong with 64 off 62 balls, was at the non-striker’s end when Rizwan played the ball straight towards the batsman. He failed to avoid it and it was stopped by his pads. The batsman attempted to lift the ball to help the Bangladesh captain; However, the captain took the opportunity to catch the ball and run him out as he was legitimately short of his crease.

Ramiz Raja’s views on controversial dismissal

During the same event, Ramiz Raja was part of the commentary panel and continued to criticize the Bangladesh team as he called it against the spirit of the game. Later he became part of the discussion panel with experts and commented on it.

“I come from a different ideology. Today the game is played differently, teams take the lead as soon as they get a chance! This was out of the spirit of the players.

The former PCB chief said, “But he was within his rights to run out. Here (Agha’s) intention was to do a good job. You never do that to the opposition team. Agha’s strong reaction was obvious. The intentions of the two players were very different.”

Raja further said, “One player was trying to run the other out while the other was trying to be friendly. And there is no place for friendliness in this competition. I would give Bangladesh 10 out of 100 for that. They could have done a little better.”

Bangladesh get revised target of 243 as per DLS rule

While chasing the target of 278 runs, Bangla Tigers lost a lot of wickets in the first 6 overs. Raza pegged the target as around 20-30 runs short, as the pitch looked battleable and the total worth chasing.

Pakistan’s total score has been revised to 243 runs in 32 overs after the innings was disrupted due to rain. Liton Das played a brilliant innings before getting out. The responsibility of making a comeback is on the middle-order batsmen of Bangladesh.
