The IPL 2026 auction pool has been updated at the last minute, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) adding 19 players to the list following a request from the franchises. The update was made just a day before the auction in Abu Dhabi, increasing the total number of players available to 369.
The franchises will assemble their squads in the auction. With 77 places available, including 31 for foreign players, teams can be strengthened for the upcoming season. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will enter the auction with the biggest task, with 13 spots to fill, followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with 10 vacancies.
Abhimanyu Easwaran among 19 late additions to IPL 2026 auction list
The last-minute extension of the IPL 2026 auction list has caught the attention of the entire league. According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI included 19 new players, making such a large number of late additions rare in the history of the event.
Abhimanyu Easwaran is the most notable name among the new names. The Bengal captain will enter the auction at a base price of ₹30 lakh. He went unsold in the last IPL auction, but his recent form has sparked renewed interest.
Easwaran impressed with his batting in the 2025 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored an unbeaten century against Punjab. It appears that his improved attacking play in domestic T20 cricket has played a vital role in earning him another chance in the IPL auction.
Kyle Verreynne, Ben Sears among foreign players added to IPL 2026 auction list
South African wicketkeeper Kyle Verrein is one of the notable names. Other players added to the list include New Zealand fast bowler Ben Sears, South African all-rounder Ethan Bosch, Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani, Australian all-rounder Chris Green and Malaysian international Virandeep Singh.
A large group of Indian domestic players have also been added to the auction pool. These players come from different states like Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Hyderabad, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. All of these are listed at a base price of ₹30 lakh.
Some of these players, including Mani Shankar Murasinghe, Swastik Chikara and Ethan Bosch, were briefly included in the auction list earlier but were later removed. He has now been brought back after the franchise requested his inclusion.
With these additions, there are now a total of 369 players on the auction register. If all teams decide to complete their entire 25-player squads then franchises will be able to bid for a maximum of 77 players in the auction.
