The Ashes 2025-26 was no different, as players from Australia and England faced each other at the Perth Stadium on the very first day of the series.

The incident happened after the last ball of the 12th over, which was bowled by fast bowler Braydon Carse. On the last ball of the over, Carse gave a short length delivery to Marnus Labuschagne, who passed the ball easily.

Then, Brydon Carse decided to attack Marnus Labuschagne, who attacked the bowlers by replying with a few words when things got spicy in the middle.

England collapsed for 172 runs

In the match, the team led by Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bat first. They had a very poor start, losing Jack Crawley for a duck in the first over and from then on they tried their best to fight back.

Harry Brook, Ollie Pope, Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett were the only batsmen who played well and looked good in the middle, while the rest struggled. The bowler who troubled the English team the most was the experienced Mitchell Starc.

Mitchell Starc returned with career-best figures of 7/58 as Australia bowled out the English team for 172 in 32.5 overs.

Speaking after the end of the innings, former England bowler Alex Hartley expressed disappointment at the poor batting performance of the English team. However, he praised Mitchell Starc for his exceptional bowling performance in Perth. Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra, he said:

“It was disappointing. Getting out in the 33rd over is bad. England collapsed and Australia came out on top. You can’t take anything away from Mitchell Starc’s innings, what a performance.”

Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan lashed out at the English team and said they displayed mindless baseball. He said:

“It was no-brainer buzzball. If you look at the last out, in England it’s a six. Here in Australia, the limits are on the maximum size, they need to think about the shots they are playing.”
