Zimbabwe Cricket has announced the 16-Khiladi squad for its three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, starting on Wednesday, 3 September at Harare Sports Club. Veteran all -rounder Sean Williams, who last played the T20I against Bangladesh on 12 May 2024, has been called back to the upcoming home series.

After a poor performance in the ODI series, Zimbabwe’s target will bounce back into T20i. The team led by Alexander Raza wants to improve their batting and bowling performance to capitalize on the benefit of the house and claim victory. Sri Lanka entered the T20i foot with speed, which swept the ODI series 2–0.

Zimbabwe’s opener Ben Curan scored 79 runs, marking his third consecutive fifty-plus score, asked to bat first. Alexander Raza contributed an unbeaten 59 to 59, helping the Home Side Post 277/7. Dushmanatha Chamera was a standout bowler for Sri Lanka, who took three wickets for 52 runs.

In response, Patam Nisanka scored 122 runs in 136 balls, including 16 borders, while Charith Asanka added 71. His important partnership gave Zimbabwe a less chance, and Sri Lanka comfortably chased the target with some delivery.

For Zimbabwe, Curan and Raza’s batting provided some positivity despite the loss. Nisanka was named Player of the Series after scoring a century and one and a half century in consecutive matches.
