Former Indian player Robin Uthappa has mentioned that it was due to Jasprit Bumrah’s lack of form with the new ball that Australia managed to chase the target easily in the second T20I. By the time the fast bowler found his rhythm, India’s fate was sealed.

India lost the second T20 match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, where first the Indian batsmen faltered in front of the Australian fast bowlers and then the bowlers of the Men in Blue team kept struggling with the new ball and by the time the bowlers came into their rhythm, the game had slipped out of their hands.

Robin Uthappa analyzes Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling innings at MCG

After the Indian team was bowled out for only 125 runs, if Jasprit Bumrah had dismissed the opening batsmen, Travis Head or Mitchell Marsh, the match could have turned in India’s favour. However, he could not perform well as the pair got off to a good start with a half-century partnership, giving Australia a great start.

Robin Uthappa said that the team could not perform with discipline in the beginning, as early success could have changed the momentum, but the Indian bowlers were trying very hard for the wickets but failed to score the first wicket. Bowling from the other end, Harshit Rana provided relief to the batsmen from pressure.

“When we were bowling after scoring 125, the start was very important. If we had taken two or three wickets in the first three or four overs, the game could have been closer because we have good spinners in the middle overs. I thought we were probably trying too hard to take wickets. So we got lost a bit,” Uthappa said on Star Sports.

Uthappa said, “Whenever Jasprit Bumrah is desperate to take wickets, he becomes a bit stubborn.”

Robin Uthappa analyzes a rare bad day for the Indian fast bowler. He said that when Jasprit Bumrah becomes too eager to take wickets, he loses his accuracy as well as his efficiency, due to which the opposition team dominates the Indians in the beginning of the innings.

He said, “I have seen that whenever Jasprit Bumrah is desperate to take wickets, he gets a bit uncontrolled, and when he is disciplined and bowls good line and length, he takes most of the wickets. Australia took full advantage of that freedom in the beginning, the way we started with the ball in the second innings.”

Josh Hazlewood played his last T20 match of India series

Australia’s leading fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has been their key campaigner throughout the white-ball tour. He played all three ODIs and was their best bowler as he troubled the Indian batsmen with very little economy.

Hazlewood continued his good form in the T20I series, as he took 3 wickets for just 13 runs in his 4 overs in the second game at the MCG. Ahead of the Ashes, Hazlewood has been given some rest to prepare for the red-ball tournament.

India will be relieved to have Xavier Bartlett and Nathan Ellis leading the attack in the absence of Josh Hazlewood, who has been a nightmare for the Indian team.
