Former England cricketer Alan Lamb has exposed the striking difference in India’s white-ball and Test Cricket Future. He praised India’s dominance in white-ball formats, but raised serious concerns about the young red-ball setup led by Shubman Gill.
Lamb mentioned that blue men are flying high in limited overs under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, but cracks are showing in Test cricket, especially with the absence of Virat Kohli, Hitman and Ravichandran Ashwin.

The Twin ICC Triumph was a powerful response to its painful 2023 ODI World Cup final disadvantage for Australia at Triumph home. The Indian cricket team has not only discovered its winning formula in limited overs cricket, but has also formed a team with clarity, balance and ruthless stability.
However, both Rohit and Virat, along with Ravindra Jadeja, retired from T20I cricket, but blue men still dominate the format with many matches-winners, who are ready to grab their opportunities.
However, the loss of the recent five wickets of the Indian team led by Shubman Gill has expressed concern about his red-ball future in the first Test of the five-match Test series in England.
You are going to remember Virat Kohli a big time: Alan Lamb
And the lamb believes that the Indian team is weak and will struggle without Kohli’s class and experience in Central and Jasprit Bumrah. The bowling of the Indian cricket team is very much dependent on Jasprit Bumrah, but the selectors and team management are very clear with their strategy for the fast bowler.
They will not exclude Jasprit Bumrah to avoid the risk of injury, so he will not play all five Test matches on a tour of England. Given that, the British feel that they will struggle in red-ball cricket.
Alan Lamb was told by PTI, “In one -day cricket, India should win every competition. In Test matches, you are going to trust Bumrah a lot, and you have been going to remember Virat Kohli for a long time.”

Jasprit Bumrah returns to training before Edgbaston Test
Meanwhile, the Indian team got a major boost before the second Test against England as Jasprit Bumrah returned to training on Saturday, 28 June. After sitting out of the first practice session on Friday, Bumrah hit the nets and bowled with Prasad Krishna and Mohammed Sirj.
After losing the first Test in Headingly, India traced 0–1 in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The entire squad was seen sweating it in the nets, but Prasad’s absence from Jasprit Bumrah and bowling drill expressed concern about his fitness.
However, Saturday’s session came with good news. All three pacers were seen in bowling, Sirj also continued his batting work from the previous day. Bumrah’s vision in the rhythm was particularly confident to India, as he aims to return to the Edgbaston Test.
