But we will soon take a call on his charge – Satanshu Kotak

The Jasprit Bumrah Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is the biggest wicket for the India National Cricket Team in 2025, and overall, he is behind the English captain Ben Stokes.

Bumrah has played three out of four matches in the series so far and has taken 14 wickets on an average of 26. His motion-chanders partner Mohammad Siraj has also taken 14 wickets, but on an average of 39.71.

After going to the series, Jasprit Bumrah had provided himself for only three tests to manage his charge and has already met his goal.

However, with a series on the line, calls have been made to make Jasprit Bumrah feature in the oval test. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, India’s batting coach Satanshu Kotak said that the speed spear is fit, but he has not taken any decision on his participation. He said:

“There is no discussion on Jasprit Bumrah yet, he is fit. But we will soon call his charge.”

Jasprit Bumrah’s test retirement blocked

Bumrah faced some fitness issues during the Manchester Test match against England, and his pace also decreased significantly. Due to this, many experts, including Mohammad Kaif, said that Pesar is with his test retirement.

However, Akash Chopra is completely retiring from Test cricket against Bumrah. In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Akash Chopra was asked if Bumrah should retire from trials.

He replied that everyone should make peace with the fact that Pesar will not play all matches for the country, and they should be given privileges to choose and choose matches. Akash Chopra said:

“Before the start of the series, it was decided that Bumrah would play only three tests, and if he only plays three, and even does not take the risk of playing the fourth, then completely knowing that there is no cricket for the next one month, it is true that his participation will be limited.

“With Jaspreet Bumrah, it is going to take and choose, which is absolutely fine. I think he should play as long as he can play. If there is a four -match series in India, it should not happen that he does not play a single one because he cannot play all four. It is not right. If he gives me four tests, he is still fine.”

So I am not in the camp that says he should retire – Akash Chopra

Akash Chopra further labeled Jasprit Bumrah as a generation player and said Pesar should not think about his retirement.

“We will try to manage their charge because there are some generation players you want to manage, which you want to handle properly.

He said, “Everyone should be handled properly, but he is a very special player. So I am not in the camp that says that he should retire if he cannot do all five tests,” he said.
