Former Indian cricket team captain Kris Srikkanth criticized Mumbai Indians (MI) fast bowler Shardul Thakur ahead of the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Srikkanth said that the RCB batsmen will thrash the right-arm pacer in the upcoming match, adding that their quota for the season is over.

Mumbai Indians will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the evening match at the Wankhede Stadium. Both the teams are eager to score two points in this match to be held on Sunday. Mumbai are facing consecutive defeats, while Royal Challengers suffered their first defeat against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their last match.

Season’s quota exhausted in first match itself – Kris Srikkanth criticizes Shardul Thakur

While talking on his YouTube channel, Chris Srikkanth said that RCB batsmen will dominate Shardul Thakur in the upcoming match. Srikanth said that Shardul and Deepak Chahar should not play together in the playing eleven.

Srikkanth said, “Shardul Thakur’s season quota with the Player of the Match award has been exhausted in the first match itself. RCB batsmen will take him to Marine Drive and Church Gate station. They cannot play Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar together. If both of them play, at least 96 runs will be scored in those eight overs.”

Shardul Thakur recorded figures of 3/39 in Mumbai Indians’ opening match win against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, his form deteriorated in the next two matches, where he managed only one wicket and gave away runs at an economy rate above 15.

Chris Srikkanth criticized Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar

Chris Srikkanth expressed strong disappointment over the performance of Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar. Srikkanth said that Boult and Jasprit Bumrah should share the new ball, adding that Ashwini Kumar is a better option than Chahar.

Boult did not get any wicket in the two matches and gave 12 runs per over. Chahar has taken only one wicket this season at an economy rate of 10.50.

Srikanth said, “Trent Boult is a big disappointment for them. If they play him and Bumrah, they will have to open with both of them. Boult will have to bowl the first over.”

He said, “Deepak Chahar should not even be in the 11. Ashwini Kumar is a good player, who also won player of the match last year. Play him in place of Chahar. Deepak Chahar’s job is done. He is playing like someone who should be sent to the mechanic’s shed.”

Kris Srikkanth on changes in the playing eleven of Royal Challengers Bangalore

Kris Srikkanth urged the Royal Challengers Bangalore management to drop Philip Salt and Abhinandan Singh. Srikkanth suggested that Jacob Bethel and Suyyash Sharma should replace these underperforming cricketers against Mumbai Indians.

“They have to drop Abhinandan Singh. MI will definitely break him. Suyyash Sharma has to replace him. Jacob Bethel has to play in place of Phil Salt. He scored a century against India in Mumbai itself. Salt should be given a break,” Srikkanth said (via the above source).

“Let Padikkal open the batting at 3 with Bethel. England have ruined themselves by waiting for a magical innings from Salt in the T20 World Cup. Based on recent form, he is not good.”
