The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written another letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) amidst the handshake controversy in the India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025. In particular, the ICC rejected the PCB’s demand for removing Andy Picroft from the match panel for the tournament.
Indian players refused to join hands with Pakistan after their victory at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, 16 September. Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav defended the gesture, saying that he wanted to show solidarity with the families of 26 civilians killed in the Pahgam Terror attack.
PCB got angry after the Asia Cup 2025 match refuses to join India’s hand
Pakistan was angry at India refusing to join hands after the match. Pakistan’s team manager Nevad lodged a complaint with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) led by PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi, alleging that the match referee Andy Picroft instructed both captains not to shake hands during the toss.

The PCB then approached the ICC and threatened to get out of the tournament, if Pycroft was not removed from the referee’s panel. However, the ICC allegedly rejected the demand.
Mohsin Naqvi later confirmed that a formal complaint was filed with the ICC. Naqvi demanded the removal of the match referee from the Asia Cup.
Andy Pycroft accused of dissolving the spirit of cricket and ICC code of conduct
The Pakistan Board lodged a complaint with ICC General Manager Wasim Khan, accusing the match referee Andy Pikerft of violating the spirit of cricket during the India-Pakistan match and violating the ICC Code of Conduct.
After the incident, Pakistan’s team manager Neveda Akram Chema allegedly sought clarification from the tournament director Andrew Russell. Pakistan head coach Mike Hessen called the situation “disappointing”, and Captain Salman Aga left the after the match.
One of the two match referees at the Asia Cup with Richie Richardson is set to end two more group stage matches including Picroft, Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong and Pakistan vs UAE in Dubai. The ICC has not issued an official statement.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has not officially withdrawn the Asia Cup from 2025. The team will continue their campaign, with a group-step match against the UAE on Wednesday, determining if it moves on the Super Four Stage. A win can establish another struggle with India on 21 September.
According to Revsports, the Pakistan Cricket Board has sent another formal letter to the ICC about the ongoing concerns, although the details have not been revealed.
