The Control Board for Cricket in India (BCCI) will elect office-bearers including the President during the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM) on 28 September. According to a recent report by Cricbuzz, senior BCCI officials and ruling BJP leaders are set to meet in Delhi on Saturday, 20 September.

Roger Binny stepped into his role as the Chairman of the Control Board of Cricket in India in July after crossing the age cap fixed by the Board’s Constitution. Office bearrs should not continue in their positions after reaching the age of 70 years.

Binny was elected as the 36th President of BCCI in October 2022. He replaced former India captain Sourav Ganguly, whose three -year term ended. Binny was the only nominated for the situation and was elected unopposed.

The BCCI will elect an office-holder including the President, but the candidates cannot be finalized. According to Cricbuzz, senior BCCI officials have been scheduled to meet BJP leaders in Delhi on 20 September, where important decisions are expected to take important decisions.

The report said, “Cricbuzz may suggest that a meeting of top BCCI owners with BJP members is scheduled in Delhi on 20 September, when all important decisions are likely to be made,” the report has been read in the report.

Senior BCCI officials are set to meet at the residence of Home Minister Amit Shah, where the next BCCI leadership lineup is expected to decide the major details and final size.

Emerges as contenders as former cricketers

There has been speculation about who will take the next BCCI main place with many former cricketers in the mixture. Sourav Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh, Raghuram Bhatt, and Kiran are in more controversy, but the final option is uncertain.

State Unions can update their submissions before 19 September. The final announcement is expected to be held in Delhi on Saturday night, and while the BJP usually does not interfere in sports administration, they are supporting leadership roles, which may be the same for the next BCCI chief.

Back in 2022, Sourav Ganguly was eligible for another word as the BCCI chief, but the board eventually chose Roger Binny for the role. Former BCCI president N. Srinivasan criticized Ganguly’s three -year term.

BCCI starts interview for new national selectors on 18 September

The BCCI started interviews to appoint new national selectors on Thursday, 18 September. The process is being organized online by the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), which currently includes Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjpe.

Sulakshman Naik, first a CAC member, is no longer part of the committee, and BCCI can appoint a replacement. CAC will select a total of seven persons.

Two members for the Men’s National Selection Committee, one member for the National Junior Committee, and four for the National Women’s Committee will be appointed under the leadership of Ajit Agkar. The newly appointed selectors are set to play their role after BCCI AGM.

Applicants must have played minimum seven Test matches with 20 first class games, or 30 first class matches, 10 Odis. Candidates should have retired from professional cricket for at least five years and should not be served in any BCCI Cricket Committee for more than five years.
