He looked decent in his ODI first game and bowled good lines and length. The off-spinner took the first wicket of his ODI career by rejecting explosive Australia batsman Travis Head.

On the first ball of the 8th over, he dismissed the Travis Head with a good delivery, and stumped the Australian batsman by Glomeman Ryan Rechelton. He bowled all 10 overs of his quota in his debut game and took 46 runs taking a wicket.

However, this was not the first international sport for Prenelan Sabreyen, as he played a Test match for South Africa against Zimbabwe in July 2025 and took four wickets.

Keshav Maharaj destroys Australia

South Africa managed to win the ODI series opener against Australia by a big margin of 98, as veteran spinner Keshav Maharaj replied to the Australian batting unit with his five -wicket race.

Speaking after the game, Proteas captain, Temba Bavuma, appreciated his team’s good all-round performance and specially mentioned Keshav Maharaj for his superb bowling. He explained in detail:

“Good all-round performance. We think we did a good job with the bat, slow and two-book. We tried to adapt and bowlers came and did their job. There was no bad to lose. I didn’t expect that I was not expecting it to bend. Kesha showed his class, well supported by other bowlers.

“(Spin bring) The boys showed me good with that decision, with experience against Australia, people living on the top and we had weapons in spin, it came well today. I got to live at the crease, young Matthew Breetzke as well, our conversation was not easy.”
