All fast bowlers are fit – Gautam Gambhir
India pulled out a historic draw in the fourth Test match against England at Old Trafford, Manchester, thanks to Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and KL Rahul for a remarkable batting show in the third innings.
Now the teams will move towards Kennington Oval in London for the final exam starting on 31 July, with England 2–1 against India.
India was concerned about some injuries in the Pace-Bauling Department going to the Manchester Test, with Arshedeep Singh and Akash Deep out, and it forced the selectors to rope in Ansul Kamboj.
Then, in the match, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj caused some trouble due to their ankle, and the pace Spearhead speed also reduced significantly. This was not all, because Debutant Anusul Kamboj also bowled at a very low speed, and many experts felt that he was not fully fit.
However, Gautam Gambhir has confirmed that India has a complete quota of fit fast bouler for the conclusion of the series and no injury. He said, “All fast bowlers are fit. There is no concern about injury.”
No decision has been made on whether Jasprit Bumrah will play or not – Gautam Gambhir
Jasprit Bumrah entered the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, including only three out of five tests with a pre-planned target, and he completed the quota of matches in Manchester.
But with the series line, many people have called Jaspreet Bumrah to dig up their charge management plans and convenience in the Oval Test against England.
Talking about the Paes Spearhead, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir said that he is yet to decide on Bumrah’s participation, even if it is available for selection. He said:
“We have not interacted around the combination for the final test. No decision has been made on whether Jasprit Bumrah will play or not. Finally, whoever plays, will try and work for the country.”
Yes, is inexperienced, but it is still the best Indian team – Gautam Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir further said that he is hoping that the inexperienced Indian team will be able to win the fifth exam and end the series in a draw. He said:
“You are asking someone who believes only in the results. I have said that even in the past, that I also believe in the results. We are still below 2-1 in the series. It’s the Indian team. Yes, it’s an inexperience, but it is still the best Indian team. So for me, I think I think it is still 2-1. And hope that we can move it ahead 2-2.”
“When you are placed under pressure, and you bat in five sessions, I think it is a great character. Anything you do in these situations, when you put under pressure and you come out of those pressure moments, it always gives a great feeling, and it gives too much confidence in the dressing room.”
