Indian middle-order batsman KL Rahul has revealed a funny story of his friendly banter with England great Kevin Pietersen during the 2025 IPL season. Kevin Pietersen served as the mentor for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, where KL Rahul represented the same franchise.
Rahul, who recently returned to India after the ODI series in Australia, had joined Delhi Capitals after leaving Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Recently, the Karnataka batsman shared that things got so volatile between him and Pietersen that he jokingly complained to the former England batsman’s wife Jessica, saying that her husband was “very rude” towards her during training.
The right-handed batsman also revealed that his wife Athiya Shetty also teased him after watching some viral clips posted by Delhi Capitals on social media. In the video, Rahul and Pietersen are seen constantly making fun of each other during practice sessions and match days.

KL Rahul said on the 2 Sluggers YouTube podcast: “Our banter is different. He’s a great sport. He gives it to you too. There was this video, and there were two or three times where I said something, and DC posted it on Instagram. So, my wife was telling me, ‘Why are you so mean? He’s a very sweet guy.'”
The Indian batsman revealed that the funny moments that fans saw online with Pietersen were just a small part of their everyday banter. He shared that Peterson keeps teasing him all the time and only a few of those moments are actually shared online.
Rahul further said, “I said, ‘Half of the things he does to me and says to me don’t come out.’ This is three times out of 100 that he is after my life.

Meanwhile, Rahul shared a funny anecdote from his England tour and recalled how he jokingly complained to Pietersen’s wife Jessica during dinner.
She asked Jessica to tell Kevin to be a little nicer to her because he was always teasing her, which made everyone laugh and highlighted the friendly bond between them.
She concluded by saying, “I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. She invited me over for dinner, and I said to her, ‘Tell your husband to be gentle with me. He’s being very rude to me.’
