Great initiative by Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir. He arranged a meet-and-greet session with all the players and staff of India’s T20 World Cup 2026 setup ahead of their next match of the tournament.
India, the defending champions and co-hosts of the current T20 World Cup, started their campaign with a win over the USA cricket team. The victory didn’t come easy, but at the end of the day, the Men in Blue had the last laugh.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led team played its opening match of the tournament on 7 February, the opening day of the competition. Their next match will be against Namibia on February 12, where fans will be hoping to see the home team easily secure their second consecutive win.
Before the Namibia match, the team is getting plenty of time to refresh its mind and body. Meanwhile, it is the duty of the coaches and coaching staff to keep an eye on the players’ schedules to maintain focus on the track. The goal for the Indian cricket team is clear – defend the title and create history. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue retained the coveted trophy in the previous edition of the tournament, which was the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
Why did Gautam Gambhir take the initiative?
On Sunday evening (February 8), players and staff of the Indian cricket team were seen at Gautam Gambhir’s house in Delhi. The upcoming match will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, so the entire team is in the country’s capital. When the team members were coming down from the team bus, their head coach was waiting with his family on the roadside to welcome each team member.

The initiative taken by Gambhir is nothing new. He had done this before to maintain the relationship between the players as well as the back office members. After all the arrangements, Indian cricket fans will be hoping to see their favorite team in great form in the next match.
hard-fought victory against America
Team India was far from its best performance against the United States. It was only captain Suryakumar Yadav who stood his ground against the opposition bowlers. Yadav’s unbeaten inning of 84 runs was the defining moment of the match. The first innings of the match turned into a ‘sky show’ as India suffered an unexpected batting collapse.
USA could not compete with the Indian bowling line-up and lost momentum in the second innings. In reply to India’s first innings score of 161, USA could claim 132/8 allowing the defending champions to win the match by 29 runs.
