A dispute arose between India and England during the second female ODI at Lord’s, appealing to obstruct the area against Tammy Beomont. Deepti Sharma, who was involved in Charlie Dean’s infamous run-out at the same site in 2022, was once again present during the appeal.

While Tammy Beom was not excluded, India had a case for appeal. According to the rules of cricket, even after returning to the crease, a batsman can be given to obstruct the field, as he is not exempted from such a scenario.

The Law Book of 37.1.1 McC states said, “Either the batsman, except for 37.2 circumstances, if the ball is in the game, he is obstructing the field, and he tries to disrupt or distract the fielding side by word or action.”

The 37.1.2 states, “Striker is obstructing the field, except for the circumstances of 37.2, in the task of obtaining the ball given by the bowler, he is not batting the ball to get the ball given by the bowler. The wicket is not batting.”

Speaking after the end of the game, Smriti Madhana addressed the obstruction-the-field incident associated with Tami Beomont. Mandal said that whatever happened to him had no clear view.

“I was not really in a good angle, to be fair, perhaps it was not visible at all. Jemmi definitely felt that he may have kicked it or something. They referred to it, and it was not out, so I am sure he should have seen all the angles. It’s only one scene that I have,” Mandan told reporters.
