Tammy Beaumont shares an emotional note on her retirement

Beaumont is one of those rare English batsmen who has centuries in all three formats of English cricket. Former England captain Heather Knight was the second player to achieve this feat.

Beaumont said in her official announcement, “It has been the greatest honor to play for England for almost 17 years… This Test match at Lord’s – our first women’s Test at Lord’s – feels like the perfect opportunity to sign off on a career I never dreamed would be so special.”

Tammy Beaumont remembers the days when she was a young girl

Recalling the days when she was very young and an aspiring cricketer, she had no idea about the opportunities in the game. He had no idea that cricket could shape someone’s future.

When I fell in love with playing cricket as a young girl, I barely knew playing cricket for England was an option, and it gives me great pleasure to think how many girls and boys I have inspired this summer especially, and how much the game has grown in our country,” Beaumont noted.

Tammy Beaumont, 35, believes it is the right time to retire from international cricket to make room for the next generation of players who will take the team forward into the future.

“We have always wanted to pass this cap on to the next generation and now the time has come for me to pass on this privilege to the next generation of England players,” he said in an official statement.

Tammy Beaumont left behind big records.

Before announcing her retirement, Beaumont made her mark on a permanent basis through her 12 centuries, making her England Women’s leading ODI century-scorer. The batsman played a key role when the team won the ICC Women’s World Cup on home soil in 2017. He finished the tournament as the top scorer in the entire tournament with 410 runs.

Beaumont also said that she would be away from the national team, but would continue to play in domestic cricket.

“I will still be playing domestic cricket, but I want to thank all the fans for your amazing support,” she said.

At an emotional moment, England Women’s Managing Director, Claire Connor, highlighted that the contribution Beaumont has made to the game is beyond words.

“Tammy has made a remarkable contribution to the England women’s cricket team and we will miss her incredibly well,” Connor said.
