Tamim blames previous BCB officials for T20 World Cup 2026 drama
“When the (T20) World Cup issue happened, I was probably the first one to speak. What was done by the previous Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) administration and how it was handled was not right. The ICC was generous; there was scope to find a solution. We should have found it,” Tamim Iqbal said in the interview.

“I go back to 1996-97 – how much we struggled to win the ICC Trophy against Kenya to qualify for the World Cup. My house was swimming in colored water. People celebrated on the streets. That celebration brought kids into cricket – everyone wanted to be Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Khalid Mashud, Akram Khan. And we gave away the World Cup without proper negotiation. There is a very good rapport. I have not yet got a chance to sit with him in this capacity, but I know him well. The security of the country is absolutely fantastic at the moment,” he said.
“When India comes here, the whole stadium is packed. People love that competition. I personally don’t think the BCB and BCCI have any real problems now. A series here would be a great way to take the next step forward,” Tamim highlighted in support of his comment.
