Top officials from the cricket world have gathered in Ahmedabad for the final weekend of IPL 2026 as well as the ICC board and committee meetings in Ahmedabad on May 30 and 31. The meetings were originally planned for Doha but were moved to India due to security concerns in West Asia.
Tamim Iqbal and Mohsin Naqvi did not attend ICC board meeting in Ahmedabad
Many important topics are being discussed during the meeting. One key proposal is to bring back the global qualification pathway for associate nations in future men’s T20 World Cups following increased interest from fans in smaller cricket nations.

The ICC is also reviewing the World Test Championship (WTC) format, with discussions being held to give teams like Zimbabwe, Ireland and Afghanistan a better chance to compete for WTC points. Additionally, future global broadcasting rights will also be discussed.
Well, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi will attend the important session on May 31 virtually, but despite efforts to improve relations between Bangladesh and India, Bangladesh Cricket Board interim chairman Tamim Iqbal will not attend the meeting in its entirety.
BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury will represent Bangladesh
Bangladesh will be represented at the ICC annual meeting by BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury. Tamim is currently focusing on the Bangladesh Cricket Board elections, which are scheduled to be held on June 7. Although Tamim is not attending the meeting, work is continuing behind the scenes to improve relations between BCB and BCCI.
“The BCB elections are on June 7 and he is busy with that. But the process of restoring relations with the BCCI is very much going on,” RevSportz quoted a BCB official as saying.
Relations between the BCCI and the Bangladesh Cricket Board have been going through a rocky patch in recent times and tensions reached their peak this year when Bangladesh did not travel to India for the T20 World Cup 2026 despite getting security clearance from the ICC.

BCCI-BCB talks likely to take place during IPL 2026 final
At the time, the Bangladesh government did not allow players to travel to India for the tournament and Scotland later replaced the Tigers in the tournament. But now it seems that the situation between India and Bangladesh is getting better.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has already included a white-ball series against India in its schedule for later this year. However, BCCI has not yet officially confirmed the tour.
Even though there are no formal discussions planned between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and BCCI during the ICC meeting, talks could still take place on the sidelines. With the presence of representatives from both the countries in Ahmedabad, the meeting could help the Asian contingent continue its efforts to rebuild cricket ties between the two boards.
“It is not formally on the agenda, but he is expected to be there at least for informal talks,” the BCB official shared.
