Tension has increased between BCCI and BCB before the T20 World Cup. The situation worsened when BCCI asked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to release Mustafizur Rahman from the team. It is noteworthy that the focus should have been on cricket, but the dispute between India and Bangladesh has increased the tension.

“A comment made by BCB Director M Nazmul Islam in relation to former national captain Tamim Iqbal has come to the attention of the Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB). We are shocked, appalled and outraged by this.

“Such comments by a board official about the most successful opening batsman in the history of Bangladesh, who represented the country for 16 years, are completely condemnable. Not only as it pertains to a player like Tamim, but such comments about any cricketer in the country are unacceptable and insulting to the entire cricket community,” CWAB said in a statement.

CWAB demands public apology, questions BCB director’s conduct

The association said such comments raise serious concerns about the professionalism and conduct within the board. The group has now written a letter to the President of Bangladesh Cricket Board demanding a public apology from the director and strict action.

“We strongly object to this comment. When a responsible board director makes such comments in a public forum, it also raises serious questions on the code of conduct of board officials,” it said.

It added, “We have already submitted a protest letter to the BCB President, demanding a public apology from the board director concerned and bringing him under accountability. We are hopeful that the BCB President will take appropriate action as soon as possible.”
