Former Indian head coach and cricket legend Rahul Dravid Has praised India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma. Celebrated for his leadership qualities and remarkable career, Rohit was honored by Dravid as one of the greatest Indian captains of all times. Both also shared the glory of the World Cup, which directs India to the T20 World Cup title in 2024.

Recently in conversation Ravichandran Ashwin Popular podcast ‘Cut stories with ash‘, Dravid reflected his time with Rohit. He said that it was a rewarding experience, seeing that Rohit cared deeply about the team, it was clear from the beginning of his vision, and knew what the most meant to him. Dravid said that this clarity played an important role in shaping the captain -coach relationship, as he believed that the team should take the captain’s identity.
“It was really good. The thing that I always felt with Rohit used to care about the team deeply and he was from day one, he was very clear about how he wanted to run the team and what was important to him. And it was actually important in any relationship between a captain and coach, especially the way I am a coach. Dravid said.

Captain and coach Synergy behind India’s success
Dravid further stated that while a captain sometimes needs guidance in achieving clarity and understanding what is necessary, Rohit stood out already to be very clear about his expectations. He knew how he wanted the team to work, the environment should be created, and the overall environment should be maintained.
“You sometimes need to help a captain in terms of achieving and understanding that clarity. But with Rohit, I thought what he wanted from the team, it was very clear about how he wanted the environment, how he wanted he wanted the atmosphere, and how he wanted to run,” Rahul further said.
