New Delhi. After Kane Williamson, another veteran captain has left the captaincy after poor performance in the T20 World Cup. Ugandan captain Brian Masaba resigned from his post after his team returned home. The Ugandan team could register only one win against Papua New Guinea in the T20 World Cup, due to which the team finished fourth in Group C with two points.
All-rounder Brian Masaba was the captain of Uganda for the last five years. Masaba has scored 439 runs apart from taking 24 wickets in 63 T20 international matches. Apart from fast bowling, he can bowl both spin bowling which includes off break and leg break bowling. 32 year old Masaba took five wickets in the T20 World Cup. This also included a spell against West Indies in which he took two wickets for 31 runs.
In a speech shared on social media by the Uganda Cricket Association, Masaba said, ‘I had been thinking about stepping down from the captaincy for some time. It has been a great honor for me to lead the country’s team for the last five years.
