T20 World Cup: I am not the captain or any selector… Why did the bowler who completed a hat-trick in 2 overs have to say this?

New Delhi. Australia’s star all-rounder Pat Cummins has created a stir by taking a hat-trick in the T20 World Cup 2024. Cummins completed his hat-trick in two overs in the Super 8 match against Bangladesh. On the basis of his hat-trick, Australia restricted Bangladesh to 140 runs. After this, under Duckworth-Lewis rule, it won by 28 runs. Cummins is the captain of Australia in ODI and Test matches, while Mitchell Marsh has been given the responsibility in T20. After being selected Player of the Match, Cummins said that he is enjoying his game at the moment. He expressed happiness that his team is performing well in every department in this World Cup.

Pat Cummins scored a hat-trick in the Super 8 match against Bangladesh (AUS vs BAN). He took 3 wickets for 29 runs and played an important role in his team’s victory. Cummins said after the match, ‘We have really performed well in every department. We played a great game as you want in the Super 8 stage. We feel that we have improved in all areas and hence our performance was good. The even better thing is that I am not the captain or selector and hence I am enjoying my game without any worries.

‘I feel everyone is playing their role well’
To reduce the burden on Cummins, Australia appointed Mitchell Marsh as the captain of the T20 team in his place. Cummins said, ‘We scored two points with a good run rate. It seems that each of our players is playing his role well. Cummins is the second Australian to take a hat-trick in T20 World Cup history. Earlier, in the 2007 T20 World Cup, fast bowler Brett Lee had taken a hat-trick.

Pat Cummins is the seventh bowler overall to take a hat-trick in T20 World Cup history. Cummins could not take any wicket in his first over. He took a wicket on the fifth and last ball of the 18th over of Bangladesh’s innings and then completed his hat-trick by taking a wicket on the first ball of the 20th over. His hat-trick included the wickets of Mahmudullah, Mehdi Hasan and Tauheed Hridaya.
