The charges relate to alleged corrupt activities during the 2023–24 season and are part of a broader investigation that potentially may also involve other individuals.

Charges against Aaron Jones linked to Barbados’ Bim10 tournament

A significant part of the case against Jones relates to alleged incidents during the Barbados BIM10 tournament, which fall under the jurisdiction of the CWI Anti-Corruption Code. Under this code, Jones has been charged with fixing or attempting to fix aspects of matches, as well as failing to disclose the methods used to engage in corrupt conduct.

He has also been accused of failing to fully cooperate with a proper investigation conducted by a designated anti-corruption officer, a charge considered serious under the CWI framework.

Apart from CWI charges, ICC The U.S. has filed two separate charges against Jones under its anti-corruption code. The charges relate to international fixtures and the batsman has been accused of failing to give full notice to the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of an approach or invitation to engage in corrupt activity.

Jones has also been charged with obstructing the ACU investigation by allegedly withholding or tampering with information relevant to the investigation. The ICC stressed that such actions undermine the integrity of the game and are treated with zero tolerance.

Jones’ provisional suspension and response timeline

As a result of the allegations, Jones has been temporarily suspended from all forms of cricket with immediate effect. The ICC confirmed that the suspension would remain in place pending disciplinary proceedings.

Jones has been given 14 days from January 28 to formally respond to the charges. Both governing bodies have said that no further public comment will be taken until the process is complete.

The ICC also said that the investigation was ongoing and that further charges could be brought against other individuals depending on the findings.
