New Delhi. Australia’s Mitchell Starc has become the bowler taking the most wickets in the Cricket World Cup (T20 and ODI). He achieved this feat during the match against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup. Mitchell Starc dismissed Tanjeed Hasan in his very first over. With this he took his number of wickets in the World Cup to 95.
Record made in 52nd match
This was Mitchell Starc’s 52nd match in the World Cup (T20 and ODI). He took only one wicket in this match, but it was enough to break Lasith Malinga’s record. Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga has taken 94 wickets in the Cricket World Cup. Malinga had to play 60 matches to take 94 wickets.
Can score a century in this World Cup
Looking at Mitchell Starc’s form and record, it is possible that he may take his number of wickets to 100 in the T20 World Cup itself. Australia still has to play at least two matches in the T20 World Cup 2024. If Australia reaches the finals then it will play 4 matches in the tournament.
Shakib is not far from Starc
In the list of taking most wickets in the World Cup (T20 and ODI), Shakib Al Hasan is at third place, Trent Boult is at fourth place and Muralitharan is at fifth place. Shakib of Bangladesh has taken 92 wickets in 77 matches. He is playing in the current T20 World Cup and can increase his wicket count.
New Zealand’s Trent Boult has taken 87 wickets in 47 matches. New Zealand is out of T20 World Cup 2024. Bolt has also announced not to play T20 World Cup in future. Muttiah Muralitharan has said goodbye to cricket a decade ago.
