Suryakumar Yadav’s big comment on Shivam Dubey’s T20 World Cup achievement

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav did not shy away from praising Shivam Dubey after the player’s contribution to India’s consecutive World Cup wins.

Suryakumar Yadav-led India broke their decade-long drought in ICC tournaments after winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 for the second time in 2024. Having won the World Cup in two consecutive years, many Indian players have been a part of the team on both the occasions and have played very important roles in these victories.

One of those players is captain Suryakumar Yadav, who was India’s best batsman in the 2024 World Cup. He took over the post of captain after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement. Other notable names included Shivam Dubey, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel.

After India won the World Cup in 2024, the likes of captain Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli all got due credit for playing some role or the other in India’s victory.

Batting all-rounder Shivam Dubey for India had scored many important runs in that World Cup, including a crucial inning of 27 runs in 15 balls, which helped India reach a crucial score. He had a similar role in 2026 and made an impact in whatever role he was asked to play.

Suryakumar Yadav was quoted by the Indian Express as saying, “No one will remember but he scored 27 runs in 15 balls in the 2024 World Cup final – a significant contribution. After that, Gauti Bhai and Ajit Bhai told me that this player needs to be tested in different positions and get ready, so if you see, he has batted everywhere from four to seven.”

Suryakumar Yadav said, “His role was simple – if he bats, he makes an impact and if he bowls, he covers a few overs. He was another underrated player in this tournament.”

Akshar Patel – Silent jack of all trades for India

On the other hand, another all-rounder from the Indian team, who has truly been a jack of all trades for India in the World Cup, Axar Patel has also been an underrated player in the Men in Blue camp.

Although Patel did not make much contribution with the bat this time, he did everything he could with the ball and on the field. In the semi-final against England, it was Axar Patel’s heroics that helped India win the title match. Harry Brook’s catch at the beginning of the innings turned the tide in favor of India.

Axar took 11 wickets in just 7 matches in the 2026 T20 World Cup, making him India’s third-highest wicket-taker and a player with a better economy than Varun Chakravarthy. Furthermore, he picked up the ball and delivered crucial breakthroughs when it mattered most for India.

Shivam Dubey will be important for CSK in IPL 2026

This Indian all-rounder will be seen playing an important role for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. He is a middle-order batsman who is often promoted by the CSK management for his big-hitting ability and is known to dismiss spinners during the middle overs.

The confidence boosted after back-to-back World Cup wins and Dubey’s emergence as India’s fourth-highest run-scorer with the batting form he has shown in this edition of the cup may also give him the role of a finisher, which CSK has been looking for for a long time.

Batting with Dewald Brevis in the middle order, Dubey could be the key for CSK to dismantle the opposition bowling attack between 10-20 overs of the game. Sometimes his medium speed can also be used.
