Suryakumar Yadav is likely to play against Uganda

After finishing the ongoing Indian Premier League 2026 (IPL 2026) with Mumbai Indians (MI) in the bottom half of the points table, Suryakumar Yadav will join Mumbai’s T20 franchise in the league. He is all set to play for Triumph Knights Mumbai North East.

But before that this star batsman is likely to face Uganda. Triumph Knights Mumbai North East vs Uganda T20 match is scheduled on May 30 at the MCA Ground, Bandra Kurla Complex.

An agreement between MCA and Uganda

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCS) has successfully completed a five-year MoU with Cricket Uganda. During the announcement of the deal on Tuesday, MCA secretary Unmesh Khanwilkar told the media about Suryakumar Yadav’s chances of playing against Uganda.

“He (Suryakumar Yadav) is part of the team, so there is a possibility of him playing,” Unmesh Khanvilkar was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

He said, “Suryakumar Yadav is the Indian captain and whenever he plays against any team, it is a morale booster for any team and it is going to be a good cricket experience.”

Jai Shah has a big role in the agreement

MCA President Ajinkya Naik said that International Cricket Council (ICC) President Jay Shah has played a big role in the agreement between MCA and Uganda. As a state cricket board, hosting the national cricket team is a great privilege for MCA. Mumbai cricketers are also expected to get exposure from this deal.

Ajinkya Naik said, “Under the leadership of Mr. Jay Shah, he had requested us to host the Ugandan cricket team, and we thought it would be a great privilege to host a national team here in Mumbai and for our Mumbai players to get experience against a national team.”

Similarly, due to the MoU, MCA can travel to Uganda during its season or even in the off-season.

“The Ugandan team can come here and play matches, and whenever MCA needs to go and play in that country during our season or even when we have off-season.” Naik further said.

“The players who are playing for the senior team or even the Indian team, they have exposure. But those who are in the second or third row – the bench strength of the MCA – they need exposure. That is why we (are) also traveling to the UK this year with both the men’s and women’s teams, and it is an additional opportunity,” he also told reporters.
