Former India opener and 1983 World Cup winning player Chris Srikanth criticized captain Suryakumar Yadav for his batting form during the Asia Cup 2025. Srikanth described Yadav’s recent score as “PIN Code” and recently expressed concern over his continuity in the concluding tournament.
Suryakumar fought with the bat in the entire Asia Cup 2025. He scored 182 runs on an average and rated a strike below 102. However, India remained unbeaten, all won seven matches. The right -handed batsman played a remarkable innings of an unbeaten 47 against Pakistan in the group stage.
Suryakumar Yadav’s scores are like a pin code these days – Chris Srikanth
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Chris Srikanth said that Suryakumar Yadav let him go down his badly. The former batsman said that the form of Suryakumar is very related to the team before the T20 World Cup 2026.
“Suryakumar Yadav let me go down. His scores are like a pin code these days. Both batting lineups had many PIN codes with Pakistan.“Srikanth said on his YouTube channel,
Suryakumar Yadav struggled with the bat in 2025. He scored only 100 runs in an average 11 innings of 11.11, with the best score of 47. The middle-order batsman recorded a series of less scores of 0, 5, 12 and 1 in the last four Asia Cups.
Shubman Gill was not even in my team during preliminary selection – Chris Srikanth
Chris Srikanth also expressed doubt about the influence of Shubman Gill in T20 cricket. Srikanth said that Gill is not impressive in the smallest format and he cannot choose for the World Cup.
“Shubman Gill does not look very deadly in the T20 format. He is fantastic in tests and ODIs. Although he made him a vice-captain, with the World Cup, we have to see what they do to him. He was not even in my team during initial selection. But he also made him a vice-captain.”
The inclusion of Shubman Gill at the top of the batting order broke the successful partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson. However, Gill scored just 127 runs in seven matches and on an average at 21.16 and strike rate at 151.19.
This team is not right for T20 World Cup – Chris Srikanth
The former chief selector said that the team is well balanced for the T20 World Cup. Srikanth said that this was sufficient against weak teams in the Asia Cup, but could struggle against strong opposition. He was also unhappy with the use of just one pace in the playing XI for most matches.
Srikanth said, “This team is not right for the T20 World Cup. It was enough for the average parties below in this tournament. But if we play with this team in the T20 World Cup, it would be the curtain for us,” Srikanth said.
India mostly depended on only one expert pacer in its play XI. In Blue, men have won 35 of their last 38 matches. He will enter the T20 World Cup as a defending champion, winning the title in West Indies and USA last year.
