Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga were not seated together in a joint press conference before the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. Suryakumar joined hands with PCB President Mohsin Naqvi during the Asia Cup Trophy, which quickly went viral on social media.
The Asia Cup will begin on 9 September with Afghanistan facing Hong Kong at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Debate Champion India will launch its campaign against UAE at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 10 September. The teams will compete for the trophy before the T20 World Cup.

Suryakumar Yadav-MOHSIN NQVI Handshek goes viral ahead of Asia Cup
Prior to the media session, the captains of all teams congratulated Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Asian Cricket Council, who also works as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Pakistani Minister.
A picture of Suryakumar Yadav went viral quickly, shaking hands with Naqvi. After the initiative terrorist attack, Naqvi referred to the incident as a “drama”.
“Pakistan’s economic stability is unbearable to India. The world should see how the country claims to be the largest democracy, using terrorism to achieve its objectives,” Naqvi said according to the Pakistani newspaper The Express Tribune.
He also told Geo News, “Pakistan is ready to fully cooperate with any neutral party, as we want to highlight the real criminals behind the attack.”
Asia Cup 2025 UAE is scheduled from 9 September to 28
The Asia Cup will be in UAE from 2025 9 to 28 September. A total of eight teams are divided into two groups. Group A includes India, Pakistan, UAE and Oman, while Group B stars Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong.
The twelve group-phase matches will determine the top two teams of each group, which will proceed on the Super Four Stage. After six super four matches, the top two sides will meet in the finals.
This version will be played in the T20 format in the preparation of the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is co-maintained by India and Sri Lanka. The UAE is hosting the tournament for the fifth time, first hosted in 2018 and 2022.
India have won eight titles in the Asia Cup, including the 2023 ODI version, where they defeated Sri Lanka by 10 wickets. Men will expect to protect the title in Blue.
