Suryakumar Yadav refutes fake viral statement on Shreyas Iyer-led Team India

Former India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has broken his silence following speculations about his being dropped from the national team. The star batsman shared a public message supporting the team and made it clear that he is fully committed to supporting his teammates despite losing his place in the team.

Suryakumar Yadav shared a message on his Instagram story expressing his support towards Team India despite being out of the team. He also wished teenage opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi success after his international debut.

He wrote, “I am very happy for the team and wish them all the best. I know the boys are giving their all and they will always have my full support.”

The former India T20I captain also addressed a statement circulated on social media which was wrongly attributed to him. He clarified that he neither created nor approved the message and urged fans not to share unverified information.

He wrote, “I have also noticed a statement circulating online which has been falsely attributed to me. I wish to clarify that I have not made or authorized any such statement. Please do not believe or share unverified information.”

Suryakumar Yadav’s captaincy record is unmatched

Despite losing his place in India’s T20 team due to poor form with the bat, Suryakumar Yadav remains one of the country’s most successful T20 captains. He led India in 52 T20Is, winning 42 matches and finishing with an excellent win percentage of 80.77%.

Suryakumar led India to the 2025 Asia Cup title before leading the team to its third T20 World Cup title in 2026. Under his captaincy, India remained unbeaten in 12 consecutive T20 matches, highlighting the team’s dominance during his tenure.

Popularly known as “Mr. 360” for his sweeping shots, Suryakumar lost both the captaincy and his place in the T20I team after a decline in batting form. However, India’s struggles under the new leadership have reignited the debate over his omission, with many fans demanding his return.

Despite the recent decline in form, Suryakumar is one of India’s best T20 batsmen. He has scored 3,272 runs in 113 T20Is at an average of 36.35 and an impressive strike rate of 162.95. The right-handed batsman has also hit four centuries, 25 half-centuries and 179 sixes.
