Suryakumar Yadav

India national cricket team T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has refused to accept that he is out of form despite his poor performances in the format in the year 2025.

Suryakumar Yadav came up with a strange excuse for his consecutive failures in T20I cricket as the Indian captain said that he just doesn’t have the runs.

Suryakumar Yadav’s disappointing performance in 2025 as per numbers

Since becoming India’s T20I captain, Suryakumar has lost his touch as a batsman – at least in international cricket, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), he has been scoring runs consistently.

Suryakumar has seen his worst phase as a batsman since making his debut for Team India in 2025. The former world No. 1 batsman has scored just 213 runs in 18 matches, with his best score being 47*.

His runs have come at an average of 14.20 and a strike rate of 125.29, with three dismissals for a duck. The right-handed batsman has had an absolutely terrible performance against the fast bowlers in 2025, scoring just 122 runs in 18 innings at an average of 8.71 and a strike rate of 115.09, with 14 dismissals.

Lowest batting average as captain in a T20I calendar year (minimum 200 runs):

12.52 – Clinton Rubagumya (Rwanda, 2022)

14.20 – Suryakumar Yadav (IND, 2025)

15.56 – Aiden Markram (SA, 2024)

15.66 – Clinton Rubagumya (Rwanda, 2023)

15.92 – Yasim Mortaza (HKC, 2025)

I think this game teaches you a lot – Suryakumar Yadav

Speaking after India’s win over South Africa in the third T20I, Suryakumar Yadav said that the game teaches him a lot, and he was happy with the way the team was able to bounce back. He said:

“I think this game teaches you a lot of things. How you bounce back in the series is more important. And that’s what we did, we wanted to go back to basics, do the same things we were doing in Cuttack and the results were in our favour.

“Look, we learned a lot from the game we played in Chandigarh. The bowlers sat together, our team meetings also went well. We came for the practice session and tried to do the same things that we did in Cuttack. We went back to the basics. We didn’t try to do too many different things, but I think the basics were very important at that time.”

The thing is that I am batting brilliantly in the nets – Suryakumar Yadav

When asked about his poor form, Suryakumar gave a strange statement, he said that he is batting brilliantly in the nets.

To make matters worse, the Indian captain said that he is not out of form and runs will come out of his bat soon. he explained:

“(On his form) The thing is, I have been batting brilliantly in the nets. I am trying to do everything that is in my control. And when the game comes, when the runs have to come, they will definitely come.

“But yes, I am looking for runs, not out of form but definitely out of runs. I think we will enjoy it tonight. We will enjoy the win tonight. Tomorrow when we reach Lucknow we will sit and then see what happened in this game and talk about it.”
