In the match, India lost the toss and were invited to bat first. Josh Hazlewood made life hell for the Indian batsmen and recorded figures of 3/13 in four overs bowled with the new ball.

The only player who was not troubled by Josh Hazlewood was Abhishek Sharma, who scored 68 runs off 37 balls, while Harshit Rana contributed 35 runs, helping India score 125 runs.

While defending the target, the Indian bowlers tried their best and took over the match as much as possible. Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakraborty took two wickets each, but Australia completed the chase with 40 balls remaining.

He has been doing this for some time now – Suryakumar Yadav praises Abhishek Sharma

Suryakumar Yadav also praised left-handed opener Abhishek Sharma and expressed hope that he will continue with the same brand of cricket in future also. He said:

“(On Abhishek) he has been doing that for quite some time now. He knows his game, knows his identity, and it is good that he is not changing it – that is what has brought him success. Hopefully, he will stick to it and play many more innings like this for us.”

Suryakumar Yadav further said that his aim is to bat well in the next game and then defend the target. he insisted:

“(Quick turnaround for the next game) We need to do the same thing we did in the first game – if we’re batting first then bat really well, get good runs on the board and then come out and defend.”

The first match of IND vs AUS T20I series was washed out due to rain.

The first T20 match between India and Australia was held on 29 October at the Manuka Oval, Canberra. India’s streak of losing the toss continued and Mitchell Marsh invited them to bat first in the match.

Openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill provided India a good start, with the former trying to play his natural ultra-aggressive brand of cricket.

However, the Australian team managed to keep Abhishek Sharma quiet as the left-handed batsman managed to score only 19 runs in 14 balls with the help of 4 fours and fell victim to right-arm fast bowler Nathan Ellis.

After his dismissal, Suryakumar came in and played one of his best innings in a long time. He faced Josh Hazlewood well before play was interrupted due to rain.

There were several rain interruptions in the game before the match was officially abandoned. Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 37 off 20 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 39 off 24 balls, leaving India at 97/1 in 9.4 overs.
