Suryakumar Yadav’s India National Cricket Team faced against the Oman National cricket team in its last group stage match of Asia Cup 2025.
This was the first meeting between India and Oman in any format and the game was hosted by Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Friday, 19 September in Abu Dhabi.

India won the toss and opted to bat first in the match. They left for a slow start as bowlers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were able to keep Gill calm.
Vice-Capten was out for 5 in the second and Sanju Samson was promoted to number 3, scoring 56 off 45 balls and finished as India’s lead run-goldter.
Abhishek Sharma once again showed fireworks and slammed a Quickfire 38 runs off 15 balls. Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dubey were rejected for a single -digit score, but Exer Patel (13 runs 13) and Tilak Verma (18 runs 18) also played an explosive innings to help India after India on 188/8 in India.
In particular, captain Suryakumar Yadav did not come out to bat in the innings despite losing 8 wickets in India and was slammed by fans for the move.
India defeated Oman by 21 runs in a thriller
Defending the clan, India adopted a casual approach and Suryakumar Yadav used eight different bowling options. Initially, Oman’s batting was slow, but he suddenly intensified and scared India heavily.
Aamir Kalem (64) and Hammad Mirza (51) hit a brilliant half-century and took Oman closer to win, before Hardik Pandya took a game-changing catch to dismiss the East. After that, India limited Oman back to 167/4 to win a 21 -run win.
Speaking during the match after the match, India captain Suryakumar Yadav said that he would try to bat in the next match against Pakistan. He appreciated Oman and said:
“Surely I will try with the next game (batting order). Overall, I think, Oman played the incredible brand of cricket.”

Suryakumar Yadav said that he was expecting a fight with Oman due to the presence of Mumbai -based veteran Sulakshan Kulkarni in the camp. He also talked about Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh and Hardik Pandya during a conversation with Sanjay Manjrekar. He said:
“I knew with his coach, Sulu Sir (Sulkashman Kulkarni), Khadodosness. It was really fun to watch the batting. It’s a bit difficult when you are sitting and suddenly you come out and play (talking about Arshdeep and Harshit).
“It’s very moist here. Unfortunately how he got out, but you can’t keep him away from the game (talking about Hardik Pandya), the way he bowled and the way he got out. Set for all super forces (when asked about Sunday’s clash).”
