Sunil Gavaskar is angry at the delay in Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s inevitable T20I debut for India. Cricket fans around the world are eagerly waiting to see the 15-year-old play for India; Gavaskar is not an exception.
The great batsman believes that the delay in handing over the debut cap to the budding cricketer will push him into a more pressurized situation, as he would be eagerly waiting to make his debut for the national team at the senior level of the game.
Sanju Samson’s off form could be an opportunity for Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Sanju Samson’s recent poor form makes a strong case for Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s debut. In three consecutive matches, the experienced keeper-batsman failed to perform well. Sanju Samson has scored only six runs in his last three matches, including a golden duck in the win against Ireland in the second T20I.
Who is Abhishek Sharma as the remaining half of the opening pair, who is in form, in such a situation the team management has to take a decision only about Sanju Samson. As a like-for-like replacement, Vaibhav Suryavanshi clearly fits the role. With Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi at the top of the batting order, the Men in Blue could form a formidable force in the T20 International format.
Sunil Gavaskar warned the Indian team management
Vaibhav has been with the senior Indian cricket team since the beginning of the UK tour. He had to either watch the match from the sidelines or bring water bottles for his teammates. The cricketers and support staff of the Indian cricket team were asked many times about the debut match of the emerging opener. No clear answer yet.
Sunil Gavaskar said that whenever Vaibhav Suryavanshi gets his much-awaited moment, it will put pressure on him as he will have to perform on an immediate basis. The former cricketer further said that since the Indian cricket dressing room is full of lovable and awesome players, the 15-year-old will be able to learn a lot.
Gavaskar said on Sony Sports, “He will come under more pressure whenever he gets a chance. But at the age of 15, you don’t think too much about the pressure. He knows that if he gets a chance in the second or third game, he has to perform almost immediately. But he is happy to be around him. This Indian team is full of lovely, tremendous players and it is great for him to learn from them.”
Abhishek Sharma was on song in Birmingham
The first match of the T20 series was canceled due to heavy rain in Birmingham. However, India completed the first innings with 189 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Sanju Samson once again flopped, scoring only 1 run out of 7. Abhishek Sharma was in form, scoring 59 runs in 24 balls. With his half-century in 20 balls, the southpaw is now the fastest Indian batsman to reach the fifty-run mark in England in the T20I format.
