from india Disappointing T20I series defeat ireland The newly formed leadership pair of head coaches has sparked intense debate among fans and experts Gautam Gambhir and captain Shreyas Iyer Are coming under heavy scrutiny. The 2–0 defeat marked India’s first bilateral T20I series defeat to Ireland, leading to widespread criticism of the team’s performance.

While many former cricketers have noted the results while batting brilliantly Sunil Gavaskar Has urged everyone to avoid rushing to conclusions. The great opening batsman believes that any new captain-coach partnership needs time to settle before realistically pinning hopes on sustained success.

Sunil Gavaskar urges patience from India’s new leadership group

Speaking during an interaction organized by Sony Sports, Gavaskar stressed that building a successful team environment is a gradual process and both players and support staff need time to understand each other’s expectations. According to the former India captain, the Gambhir-Iyer partnership is still in its infancy, making it unfair to judge them based on the Ireland series alone.

“As with any new relationship, it will take a little time for both the support staff and the playing staff to understand what is expected of them. It will probably take a little (more) time, and so we have to be a little patient with it.” Gavaskar said.

His comments come at a time when India’s leadership change has become a major talking point after the unexpected defeat.

Gavaskar believes international cricket is a different challenge

Gavaskar also talked about Iyer’s credentials as a captain, and pointed out that the Mumbai batsman has already proven his leadership abilities in franchise cricket, especially IPLBy guiding teams to a title, multiple finals and playoff appearances over the years. However, he added that being successful at the international level is a completely different challenge, where players and captains often need time to adjust to the higher standards and increased pressure.

“Shreyas Iyer’s leadership has been proven over the years in the T20 format. We have seen him win trophies, and take teams to knockouts and finals. But then, when it comes to international cricket, it is a completely different ball game. We see where people perform brilliantly at Ranji Trophy level or first-class level, but somehow it seems a little tough to make that step up to the international level. We just have to wait and see where Shreyas Iyer is worried, it was just the first two games, yes, it is a defeat which is difficult to bear, but let’s be a little patient and see what happens in the next five games in England. Gavaskar concluded.

The next match will be against India England In the five-match T20I series, Gambhir and Iyer will look to register their first win together and start regaining their momentum after the disappointing tour of Ireland.
