New Zealand stars Suji Bates and Sophie Divine obtained major milestones against South Africa at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Monday, 6 October during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Bates became the first female cricketer to play 350 international matches, while Divine arrived in 300 matches.
Suji Bates and Sophie Divine have been New Zealand columns for almost two decades. Bates performed his ODI against India in 2006 at the age of 19, while Dewin started just 17 years against Australia a few months later. Both players have demonstrated notable longevity, stability and commitment to the game.
Suzie Bates for the first time 350 women become international
Suji Bates named her in history by becoming the first woman to play 350 international matches. He is the third largest run-scorer in women’s Odis, ashamed of just 104 runs of 6,000 in the format. In particular, Bates also represented the former New Zealand basketball team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The skipper Sophie Divine reached her own milestone, becoming only 300 internationally seventh woman. Divine joined great people such as Harmanpreet Kaur (342), Elis Perry (341), Mithali Raj (333), Charlot Edwards (309), and Danny Wyt-Hodes (300).
Devine scored a surprising century against Australia in its first match of ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. She will retire from ODI cricket after the ongoing World Cup in India and Sri Lanka and will continue to represent New Zealand in T20Is under a casual contract.

Speaking before the match, Suji Bates emphasized that his primary focus is on performing well and winning the World Cup game. He said that he plans to celebrate his journey after the match as players and as a team.
“To think together that we have played 650 internationals for white fern, it is a bit incredible and we want to make sure that we finish that game on a good note so that we can celebrate. We will recognize that it is a special day, but our attention is to make sure that we conquer that game and play well,” Saying “Bats.
