However, the upcoming three-match ODI series could give India a fresh start. Many senior players are back in the team and Broad believes that the inclusion of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will make a big difference. He said that the presence of Virat Kohli always brings extra energy and confidence in the team.

Everyone else performs better because you’ve got the hero of Indian cricket in Kohli. And Rohit and Bumrah have the same impact. So, it will be a different challenge for England in ODIs.”

However, Broad is hopeful that Bumrah has been rested and not dropped due to poor performances in the IPL 2026 season. Bumrah played a big role in India’s T20 World Cup 2026 win earlier this year, but he had a tough IPL 2026 season, taking only four wickets in 13 matches at an average of 102.50.
