Yashasvi Jaiswal is struggling with restlessness
Jaiswal batted with discomfort and could not make a big impact in the match. Before getting out, he scored 15 runs in 16 balls with the help of three fours.
Ajinkya Rahane and Sarfaraz Khan played important roles in Mumbai’s chase. Rahane remained unbeaten with a calm and steady innings, while Sarfaraz scored 73 runs in just 22 balls. Sarfaraz’s performance also earned him an IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings.
Even though Jaiswal failed in this game, overall he had a good tournament. He scored 145 runs in three matches at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6. The left-handed batsman also scored a brilliant century, which helped Mumbai chase 235 against Haryana.
Jaiswal is not part of India’s T20I squad and has no immediate international matches. This will give him time to rest and fully recover before the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was last seen playing for India in South Africa ODI
Yashasvi Jaiswal last played for the Indian team during the recent ODI series against South Africa. He struggled in the first two matches before making a comeback in the final game in Visakhapatnam on 6 December.
The left-handed batsman scored an unbeaten 116 which helped India chase 271 runs easily. He also shared a strong opening partnership of 155 runs with Rohit Sharma in the nine-wicket win.
Overall, Jaiswal scored 156 runs in three matches. Notably, this was his first ODI century. Jaiswal may be named in India’s squad for the ODI series against New Zealand starting January 11. However, with Shubman Gill expected to return as captain, it may be difficult for him to make a place in the playing eleven.
