Team India batsman Virat Kohli is making steady progress in his recovery from the hamstring injury suffered during the IPL 2026 final. According to a report in Times of India, the former India captain has already started his rehabilitation program and is expected to return for India’s upcoming ODI series against England.

The 37-year-old missed the ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan due to injury, with Yashasvi Jaiswal replacing him in the squad. Kohli is currently in London, where he recently met his Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) teammate Jordan Cox ahead of England’s second Test against New Zealand.

According to Times of India, Virat Kohli is recovering well from the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the ongoing ODI series against Afghanistan. The report says that the former Indian captain will return to Team India.

“Kohli has started his rehabilitation and his injury is healing rapidly. He is expected to report to the BCCI Center of Excellence soon for his fitness assessment and clearance. If his recovery goes as per plan, Kohli is expected to return to the team in the upcoming England series,” a source said.
Virat Kohli suffered a hamstring injury during the IPL 2026 final, where he played a key role in Royal Challengers Bangalore’s title-winning campaign. The former India captain remained unbeaten on 75 off 42 balls against Gujarat Titans, helping RCB chase the target of 156 and lift the trophy.
Kohli scored 675 runs in 16 matches for RCB at an average of 48.50 and strike rate of 237.31. During the tournament, he also became the first player in IPL history to cross 9,000 career runs.

BCCI selection committee is going to meet soon to finalize the Indian team For the upcoming ODI series against England. BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia confirmed that the selectors will announce the squad in the next few days.
“The selection committee will meet in the next three to four days to choose India’s ODI team for the England tour.”
India and England will face each other in a three-match ODI series from July 14 to July 19. The matches will be played across three major venues in the United Kingdom, with matches scheduled in Birmingham, Cardiff and Lord’s.
He may be fit for England ODI series – Ajit Agarkar on Virat Kohli
Chief selector Ajit Agarkar talked about Virat Kohli’s fitness while announcing the Indian squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan. Agarkar said that BCCI has not received a clear timeline for recovery.
“With Virat, it’s been less than a week since he injured himself in the IPL final. We don’t know the timeline yet. But it looks like he could be fit for the England ODI series. It’s not a definite answer, so don’t hold me to it. I haven’t got a clear timeline from the physio yet.”
As part of his recovery process, Kohli is consulting Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, one of India’s leading orthopedic specialists. Dr. Pardiwala works at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai and serves as the Chief Orthopedic Consultant to the BCCI.
