Sri Lankan national cricket team batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa has taken legal action against young actress Harshi Rasanga over the claims made on social media. Bhanuka Rajapaksa claimed that every word of the Sri Lankan actress was false and misleading.
The dispute is over a gold chain worth more than Rs 900,000. Rajapaksa claimed that the actress had borrowed the chain but later pawned it without informing him. Things turned sour when Hershey posted a statement on social media that contradicted what was discussed in court.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa sends legal notice to actress on gold chain controversy!
Now, as reported by the newswire, Bhanuka Rajapaksa sent a formal letter of demand (LOD) to Harshi Rasanga through his legal team over his false claims.

The Sri Lankan cricketer’s legal team revealed that the actress told the court that the gold chain was mortgaged, but later posted a different story on social media, leading Rajapaksa to take legal action against her.
Harshi Rasanga took a shocking U-turn after bail
Earlier, Thalangama police had arrested Harshi Rasanga in this case and he was produced before the Kaduwela magistrate’s court. He was granted bail on two sureties of Rs 500,000 each, but the legal drama did not end there. This was the beginning of a new controversy.
During the court proceedings, Hershey’s defense admitted that the gold chain had been mortgaged and promised that arrangements could be made for its redemption and return to Rajapaksa. But as soon as she was released on bail, the actress changed the entire case.
Harshi went before the media and claimed that the chain was given to him as a gift by the Sri Lankan batsman during their personal relationship. This was a shocking U-turn from his statement.
The next hearing is scheduled for April 22
The court has now directed the Thalangama police to take possession of the gold chain and represent it in the next hearing on April 22, 2026. Rajapaksa is yet to respond to the actress’s claims about their personal relationship.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s Sri Lankan career in statistics
Talking about Rajapaksa’s career, the left-handed batsman has not played an ODI for Sri Lanka since September 2021, although he remains a part of the T20 squad. He last played for Sri Lanka in November 2025 against Zimbabwe and is struggling to make the national T20 squad.
He has played only 5 ODIs and 45 T20 matches for the Islanders so far, in which he has scored 89 and 744 runs respectively. However, Sri Lankan batsmen have been actively participating in franchise cricket tournaments such as UAE’s ILT20, Pakistan’s Pakistan Super League and Bangladesh Premier League.
Rajapaksa also played in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as South Africa’s domestic T20 league – the SA20 – and the West Indies’ Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He has 4187 runs in 225 T20 matches at an average of 22.75 and a strike rate of around 137.
The batsman has scored one century and 17 half-centuries in his T20 career so far. He was recently seen in action for Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club in the Premier Trophy 2026, where he managed only 70 runs in four innings.
