Openers: Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis (WK)
Sri Lanka will be disappointed with the effort the team put in with the bat while chasing a manageable target against Zimbabwe in the opening match of the tri-series.
The visiting team would like to sort things out in the upcoming match against Pakistan, so that they do not face a do-or-die situation if they want to progress in the series.
Despite a poor performance with the bat in the last match, the Lankan Lions will be confident of making a strong comeback against the home team, as they have done in the past.
Having said that, the former T20 World Cup winner would like the opening pair of Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis to give the team a good start in the first six overs.
Individually too, the onus will be on both the batsmen to play match-winning innings as once set they can turn the match in Sri Lanka’s favour.

Players like Kusal Perera, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Kamindu Mendis will look to correct the mistakes made against Zimbabwe and bat wisely when batting first or chasing the target.
The responsibility will also be on captain Dasun Shanaka to lead from the front and deal with the Pakistani spinners and adopt their aggressive approach against the spinners.
The responsibility of scoring most of the runs for the team and setting the stage for captain Dasun Shanaka and former captain Wanindu Hasaranga will be on Lanka’s top five batsmen.

As far as bowling is concerned, it did a good job in restricting Zimbabwe to the target of 162 runs and will look to continue the good performance in the next match against Pakistan.
It was a complete bowling performance where every bowler did well except Nuwan Thushara who was a bit expensive, giving away 30 runs in three overs without taking any wicket.
Thushara will be aiming to come back strong in the game against Pakistan, which is an important game for Lanka in terms of their position in the series.
Lanka are expected to field the same bowling combination of two spinners and three fast bowlers in the match, with Dushmantha Chameera, Nuwan Thushara and Ishan Malinga handling the fast bowling department.
