Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy saved SRH from disaster and created history

Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy brought hope. After their calm approach, the duo changed gears and played fearless strokes to bring Sunrisers Hyderabad back into the match.

Klaasen and Reddy’s 116-run partnership against LSG not only saved the innings but also became SRH’s highest partnership for the 5th wicket or less in IPL history.

Additionally, it was the first time that Sunrisers Hyderabad batsmen who came to bat at No. 5 or below both reached half-centuries in the same match. While Reddy scored 56 runs, Klaasen scored a brilliant 62 runs in 41 balls.

Late collapse hurts Sunrisers Hyderabad again

But just when Sunrisers Hyderabad looked set for a big finish, Reddy fell in the 18th over and Klaasen was out soon after in the 19th, sparking another short collapse. Yet, 156/9 proved to be their highest score so far after falling behind by 4 wickets for 30 runs against LSG on Sunday.

Defending a modest target, Ishan Malinga gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a crucial breakthrough as he sent Mitchell Marsh back to the dugout in the powerplay. Marsh tried to pull the short ball, but missed it completely. The ball went to deep square leg, where Reddy waited calmly and took a simple catch off Marsh for 14 off 12 balls.

However, Aiden Markram and Rishabh Pant managed to take over the innings before Shivang Kumar struck the gold medal with his maiden IPL wicket. He dismissed set batsman Markram for 45 runs out of 27.
