Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed Australian fast bowler Spencer Johnson as a replacement player for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which is scheduled to begin on March 28. However, the left-arm fast bowler will experience a lot of delay before he officially joins MS Dhoni and the team.
Johnson replaced the injured Nathan Ellis in the team. The Super Kings franchise management secured him for ₹1.5 crore. Notably, Quetta Gladiators had bought the Australian fast bowler for the Pakistan Super League, but he withdrew from the tournament on March 15 due to personal reasons.
Chennai Super Kings recently released an official statement confirming the acquisition. The franchise welcomed Australia’s Spencer Johnson in keeping with his delayed availability for the tournament.
The official statement confirmed that Spencer Johnson will join the team between April 21 and April 23. Chennai Super Kings management shared this update regarding the timeline of the fast bowler’s arrival.
Chennai Super Kings took to social media to say, “Increased pace from Yellows to Yellows Down Under Note: Spencer Johnson has replaced Nathan Ellis. He is set to join the squad between April 21-23.”
