On Monday, 27 October, Cricket South Africa (CSA) officially announced the South Africa national cricket team’s Test squad for the upcoming series against the India national cricket team.
The South Africa national cricket team is currently in Pakistan as part of its all-format tour and will soon travel to India for a high-octane red-ball and white-ball series against the Men in Blue.
Temba Bavuma returns to the test team
ICC World Test champions South Africa have received a huge boost ahead of the series against India as their captain Temba Bavuma has regained full fitness.
Temba Bavuma, considered one of the best Proteas batsmen currently, suffered from a left calf strain, which ruled him out of the Pakistan tour. However, now he has completed his recovery and will be seen leading the team against the Shubman Gill-led side.
With his return to the team, David Bedingham has unfortunately missed out on selection, which is the only change to the Proteas team that recently faced Pakistan.
“The South African men’s selection panel has announced a squad of 15 players for the two-match Test series against India in the subcontinent from 14 to 26 November,” CSA said on the X.
“Test captain Temba Bavuma has returned to the squad after missing the recent Pakistan Test series as he recovers from a left calf strain.”

As for the rest of the team, Aiden Markram will continue to play a key role at the top of the order along with Ryan Rickelton, while all-rounders Wiaan Mulder, Corbin Bosch and Marco Johnson provide considerable depth to the Proteas line-up.
Kagiso Rabada and Keshav Maharaj will lead the South African bowling unit, which also includes Simon Harmer, who recently completed 1000 first-class wickets.
