India Will face South Africa in the second match of the three-match ODI series. This article provides details about the playing 11 of South Africa vs India for the second match of the series.
South Africa Playing XI vs India – 2nd ODI, South Africa tour of India 2025:
Openers: Ryan Rickelton, Aiden Markram
South Africa will be hoping for a better effort from its top three batsmen as their performance or lack thereof was one of the reasons why the team could not achieve a memorable win in the first ODI.
The opening pair of Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram will have the responsibility of giving a good start to the team by batting first and while chasing the target, South Africa will get a chance to defeat India in the next match.
Rickelton, who is known for his aggressive batting at the top of the order, was out early in the last match and will look to compensate for that in this particular match.
Rickelton’s opening partner and South Africa’s captain in the series opener also played a shot in a hurry as he was caught out while chasing a wide shot from Arshdeep, and will look to make a stronger comeback in the second outing.
If the openers are successful in giving the team a good start, it will make things easier for the middle order, which showed a lot of fight during the first game despite losing three wickets early in the chase.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Quinton de Kock (wk), Mathieu Bretzke, Temba Bavuma (captain), Dewald Brewis, Marco Johnson, Corbin Bosch.
As mentioned above, Africa’s middle order got the team out of trouble and gave them a real chance to win the game.
However, the middle-order batsmen will support the openers to create a platform for them to take advantage.
A change of crowd is expected for the game in Raipur, with regular captain Temba Bavuma returning to lead the side after being rested for the first ODI.
Bavuma’s inclusion will further boost the middle order, which already has attacking batsmen like Mathieu Bretzke, Dewald Brewis, Marco Jansson and Corbin Bosch, who can swing the match in Africa’s favour.
Bowlers: Prenelon Subraiyaan, Nandre Berger, Otniel Bartman
Africa may reconsider their bowling combination for the next match and replace one fast bowler with another specialist spinner.
Having said that, the teams go in with unchanged playing XIs after the first match of the series, with every possibility that Africa will do the same.
If that remains the case, the onus will be on the four fast bowlers to do most of the damage and restrict India to a manageable score.
The fast bowling quartet of Marco Jensen, Cobyn Bosch, Nandre Berger and Otniel Baartman will look to bring their A game forward against the strong Indian batting lineup, with Prenlan Subraine the only specialist spinner.
