Conrad dismissed any concerns and said that the captain had “the heart of a giant”.

India lost by 30 runs in the first Test of the two-match series. When deciding to take the DRS review, Bumrah used the word “bauna”, a Hindi word commonly associated with dwarfism and often considered offensive, to describe a person of short stature. Many viewers felt the comment was a comment on Bavuma’s height.

The clip quickly circulated on social media, sparking strong reactions and widespread discussion. South Africa’s batting coach Ashwell Prince said he has been made aware of the incident. After the match, Bumrah was seen talking with Bavuma on the field.

Temba Bavuma She has like a big heart – Shukri Conrad

After South Africa’s win over Team India, Shukri Conrad responded with a lighter comment on the stump-mic controversy, saying that Temba Bavuma has a “heart of a giant”.

“Thankfully, he’s got like a huge heart,” Conrad said in a post-match press conference, as quoted by NDTV.

Bavuma played a key role in turning the match towards South Africa. He scored a half-century on the third day and made a 44-run partnership with Corbin Bosch. His unbeaten 55 was not only his only half-century of the entire Test, but also his first half-century on Indian soil.

Bavuma helped South Africa reach 153 in their second innings, giving them a defendable total that proved enough to ensure victory. The visiting team sealed the victory by bowling out India for 93 runs.

Luckily things are working out quite well – Temba Bavuma

Temba Bavuma praised South Africa’s lower order for swinging the momentum in their favour. Bavuma said his partnership with Corbin Bosch and Marco Jansson played a vital role.

Bavuma admitted that the conditions were difficult for both teams, but that South Africa handled them well and made the most of the scoring opportunities presented to them. He also gave credit to the bowlers for bringing the team back into the competition.

“Fortunately things went pretty well. Our bowlers got us back into the game, but the partnership with Bosch and I think with Marco as well, gave us a little bit of motivation at the end of the day that we could play a little bit better this morning. It wasn’t that extreme, but we managed to get a partnership going,” he said.
