Deepti Sharma performed a fake ‘Mankad’ in the final over of the third day of the ongoing India Women vs England Women (INDW vs ENGW) Test match at Lord’s. England batsman Sophie Ecclestone was out of her crease when Deepti Sharma ran into her arms.
The incident brought back the controversial incident from 2022 where Deepti Sharma had clinched the series win for India by running out England’s Charlie Dean at the non-striker’s end. After the end of the third day, Sophie Ecclestone was asked about Deepti Sharma’s intention to run her out at the non-striker’s end.

Sophie Ecclestone on Deepti Sharma’s tendency to intimidate batsmen
Sophie Ecclestone said that she had no special feelings about the incident as the Indian all-rounder had tried the same trick many times before.
“I mean, to the media, no, but there were some words, yes. I mean, it happens all the time, and she does it all the time. So, I mean, I haven’t got any comment on it. But I feel like it’s very worrying that I don’t know my feelings on that. But, yes, she does it all the time,” Sophie Ecclestone told reporters in London.

India is headed towards a historic victory
At the end of the third day, India women’s cricket team is on course to win a historic Test match at Lord’s. Since the inception of women’s cricket, this is the first women’s Test match at this prestigious venue. It is important for both India and England to win this match, because the winner will create history.
The England women’s cricket team also has a fair chance of overcoming the hurdle set by India if they can retain their remaining four wickets. The hosts need 327 runs with only 4 wickets remaining to win the match. Whereas India needs four wickets to win the match.
So far, India has performed better than England in both the innings. In the first innings, the Women in Blue scored 285 runs while England got only 170 runs for all their wickets. The visiting team increased its lead by scoring 341 runs for 7 wickets before declaring the innings.
Yastika Bhatia made a record by scoring a century at Lord’s
Yastika Bhatia created a record by scoring her first women’s Test century at Lord’s. Yastika contributed 113 runs in 158 balls in India’s 341 runs. His innings was decorated with fourteen fours.
“I think it’s unbelievable. Six months ago, I was in a very different place. And if you had told me my name would be on the honors board, I wouldn’t have believed it,” the 25-year-old told reporters after stumps.
Smriti Mandhana, one of the team’s opening batsmen, scored 70 out of 130 and spent a lot of time on the pitch with Yastika. Shatakvir mentioned that when she was batting with Smriti, she got some valuable advice from her batting partner.
He added, “I had a conversation with him and he just looked at me and said, ‘This is going to be a turning point in your career.’
