Indian women’s cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has surprised everyone with her incredible focus, just a day after announcing the cancellation of her wedding with musician Palash Muchhal.

Instead of taking a break or staying away from the public eye, Smriti Mandhana went straight back to training. Mandhana was seen wearing her training jersey, pads and gloves and calmly faced the throwdown at what looked like a private practice facility.

The RCB captain’s brother Shravan Mandhana clicked a picture of him in full action and shared it on Instagram with heart emojis. His remarkable calmness and determination amidst the chaos immediately took social media by storm, with fans praising the strength of the Indian cricketer.

Smriti Mandhana is preparing for Sri Lanka T20I

Mandhana, who played a key role in India’s maiden ICC Women’s World Cup win a few weeks ago, is now preparing for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka on home soil. Due to political issues this series replaced the white ball games against Bangladesh.

These five T20I matches will be held from December 21 to 30 in Visakhapatnam and Thiruvananthapuram. The upcoming home series will help India build momentum for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England in June-July.

After the Sri Lanka series, Smriti will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the upcoming Women’s Premier League 2026 (WPL 2026) starting from January 9 in Navi Mumbai.

Smriti Mandhana breaks her marriage with Palash Muchhal

Meanwhile, Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal have officially ended their marriage. On December 7, Smriti shared a post saying, “The wedding has been cancelled.” She asked everyone to respect the privacy of both the families and said that her focus would be on cricket and representing India.

Around the same time, Palash also shared that he was choosing to move on from the relationship after going through a very difficult phase. He also talked about several rumors circulating on social media and warned that action would be taken if people continued to spread false or hurtful claims.

The much-awaited wedding was scheduled to take place on November 23 in Sangli, Maharashtra. But things took a sudden turn on the morning of the ceremony when Smriti’s father suffered a cardiac emergency and had to be taken to the hospital.

Soon after, reports came in that Palash had also been admitted to the hospital due to stress. Fans initially hoped that the wedding would be postponed until both families were stable again. But Smriti and Palash started deleting pictures and videos from their pre-wedding celebrations, leading people to suspect that something big was happening.

They even unfollowed each other on social media and deleted almost all their shared posts. However, social media is filled with unverified rumors, including claims that a third person may be involved. Some people accused Palash of fraud, but he vehemently denied it, calling it baseless.
