Smriti Mandhana’s life has been swinging between triumphs and turmoil in recent weeks. She was on top of the world after winning the World Cup last month, but she was devastated after her marriage fell apart at the last minute.
The Indian cricket star was going to tie the knot with musician Palash Muchhal on November 24. Three days before the wedding, Smriti Mandhana and Palash got officially engaged at the DY Patil Stadium, the same venue where they won the World Cup a few weeks ago.
The wedding ceremony began on November 23 in Smriti Mandhana’s hometown Sangli, which was attended by many of her colleagues and close friends. Several videos of the ceremony were circulating on social media, suggesting that everything was fine.

However, the wedding was postponed at the last moment as the batsman’s father had to be hospitalized due to a heart ailment. Hours later, Palash too had to be hospitalised, first in Sangli and then to Mumbai.
On December 7, Smriti Mandhana finally put an end to the saga by officially confirming that the wedding was called off. In a statement, he requested privacy and said his focus was now on ‘higher business’ – representing his country in cricket.
Smriti Mandhana almost confirms ‘cheating’ rumours:
When the wedding was postponed at the last moment, many rumors said that Palash had cheated on Smriti Mandhana. Neither Mandhana nor Palash has given any statement regarding those rumours.
However, Mandhana’s recent social media activity confirms that those rumors were true. Mandhana and Palash have unfollowed each other on Instagram. He has also deleted all the pictures and videos related to marriage and engagement including his proposal video from his Instagram account.

On Sunday, Mandhana released a statement on the wedding on Instagram, saying: “There has been a lot of speculation surrounding my life over the past few weeks and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I am a very private person and I would like to keep it that way but I must make it clear that the wedding has been cancelled. I would like to close this matter here and urge all of you to do the same. I ask that you please respect the privacy of both families at this time and allow us to process and move forward at our own pace.
“I believe there is a higher purpose driving all of us and for me that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue playing for India and winning trophies for as long as possible and that will always be my focus. Thank you for all your support. Now it’s time to move on.” He added.
